I specialize in helping people who have problems in their relationships or work/business lives, people who have anxiety or depression, or who are suffering from medical issues such as chronic pain, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and other conditions.

My therapy style is warm, supportive, genuine and direct. My primary treatment approach is called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which helps people to face and overcome difficulties in a more constructive way, moving forward to a full, rich and fulfilling life. ACT is a kind of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and has received considerable support in scientific studies examining its effectiveness across a range of problems.

As director of Portland Mindfulness Therapy, in addition to providing psychotherapy, I mentor residents and students, and represent our clinic to other practice groups and to the media. I founded Portland Mindfulness Therapy in 2008 in order to create a container for therapists committed to providing top-quality, mindfulness-based psychotherapy to individuals and families in Portland.
